Philomath and the foothills.

Philomath sits just past Corvallis on Highway 20, about twenty-five minutes from Albany. It is a small town, and plenty of the houses around it sit on acreage outside the city limits.

Rural houses come with their own kind of mess. Gravel drives, muddy boots, dogs that live half outside and wood heat all end up on the floors and windows.

Town lots and acreage

In town, Philomath has older houses and newer infill. Outside town, toward the Coast Range foothills, you find farmhouses, shops and outbuildings on bigger lots.
