Albany houses have some age on them

Albany has one of the largest collections of historic homes in Oregon, much of it in the Monteith and Hackleman districts near downtown. Older houses mean detailed trim, tall baseboards, original windows and radiators that collect dust in ways a newer build does not. North Albany and the east side have newer subdivisions with open kitchens and carpeted upstairs, which is a different job with more carpet and more glass.

Grass seed country

Linn County grows a lot of grass seed, and early summer brings pollen and field dust into houses all over town. Winters bring the opposite problem: rain, mud and wet dogs coming through the door. Entryways, window sills and floors take most of it, which is why they get extra attention on our visits here.
